While serving as a member of the Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Commission, I often times had the privilage of opening new parks for our region with elected officials. Here during 2007, I was privilaged to have the opportunity to speak with Mecklenburg County Board of County Commission Chair, The Honorable Jennifer Roberts. This was one of many new parks opened and in this case an historic drag strip was converted into the new Shuffletown Sportsplex. Children from around the community will enjoy playing baseball and softball on multiple fields.

One of my greatest opportunites and pleasures has been to join with countless others to protect and preserve our natural resources through Mecklenburg County's numerous nature preserves, totalling over 6,500 wooded acres.  Three major nature preserves exists currently with severeral others in the master planning process. Ultimately these nature preserves will provide access for every citizen of the region to enjoy a time communing with our best resource, the natural one!

I've also been fortunate to have some fun times along the way.
